A family steeped in Pennsylvania Bluestone History
James “Gramps” Chyle was the first of the family to work a Pennsylvania Bluestone quarry in the early 1900’s.
He passed on the tradition to his son-in-law, George Gustin, who spent ten years at a Bluestone quarry before being sent off to World War ll. Upon his return, he started a family and struck out on his own, working small Bluestone quarries in northern Wayne Co, PA.
When George’s son, Paul was old enough to carry rock he joined his dad and worked for twelve years, until the Air Force called for him. Four years later, Paul returned home to Pennsylvania with his new bride, Linda. He partnered with his dad in the quarry business and soon Paul’s brother, Bob came on board to further round out the family business.
In the 80’s, Paul and Linda took over the Gustin Stone family business. Bob convinced them it was time to start producing pallets of Fieldstone. Their first trailer load was a family affair with Paul and Linda, their two daughters (Pam and Wendy) along with Bob and some hired local boys - all pitching in.
The demand for stone products grew rapidly and so did production. By 2005 Gustin Stone was selling over 2000 trailer loads of stone products per year. It was time for Gustin Stone to expand operations. So they set out to acquire a new office, a new fabrication building and maintenance garage, an array of equipment, and over 600 acres of property, containing a variety of stone resources, to service their wide and growing spectrum of clients.
Today, Gustin Stone is still family owned and operated. They put the family name on every stone they deliver. Specializing in providing you with the best quality Pennsylvania Bluestone and Natural Fieldstone available.
